FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Microblading:
Microblading is a manual tattoo method created by depositing pigment into the skin with a small disposable needle and hand tool configuration. The result? Realistic-looking brow hairs that don't wash off.
Microblading, Ombré or Combo Brows - do I need to know exactly which technique I want before booking?
No. Though most guests have an idea of the style they prefer, we will thoroughly discuss all techniques during your consultation at your first session and decide together on a customized plan that fits your needs and lifestyle.
How long does it last? Is there maintenance?
Lifestyle, skin type and aftercare play the biggest roles in the lifespan of a brow tattoo, lasting anywhere from 6 months to 3 years or longer. Maintenance in the form of a Color Boost every 12-24 months is necessary to keep them looking fresh. Keep in mind that permanent makeup is MEANT to fade over time. This is what allows them to stay soft and natural looking, as opposed to the discolored, oversaturated and "traditional tattoo" look more prevalent in the past.
Certain lifestyle factors will cause your tattoo to fade more quickly: sun exposure, frequent workout routine/excess sweating, skin exfoliants such as anti-aging and/or anti-acne skin care, chemical peels, laser treatments, smoking, iron deficiency, exposure to salt water or chlorine, strong immune systems/metabolisms, diabetes, thyroid conditions.
Does it hurt?
Due to the use of strong topical anesthetics throughout the entire procedure, pain is very minimal, with most guests reporting a discomfort level of 0-3 on a 10 scale. My goal is always to keep you as comfortable as possible.
How do you chose shape and color?
The goal of permanent makeup is to give you a natural enhancement that complements your face as a whole, and keeps you looking like you. All of the details including size, shape, and color are based off your natural anatomy, skin tone and natural brow hair color. Careful measurements are taken to ensure balance and symmetry. With input from you regarding your preferences, I will then draw a template on your brows before we begin the procedure and verify you feel confident with the plan before moving forward.
Should I wax or tweeze my brows before my appointment?
No. In order to tattoo in the correct place on your face, it's imperative that I am able to see where your brow hair is naturally growing. Additionally, waxing the brow area prior to getting a tattoo will exfoliate the skin and can negatively impact your healed results (and make you more sensitive to pain during the procedure).
What do I need to do before and after my appointment?
Please refer to the PRE + POST CARE page
Can anyone get this service done?
No. For a guideline of mandatory client qualifications, please refer to the AM I A CANDIDATE? page
How much does it cost?
Please refer to the PRICE GUIDE page
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Please read the Arrival Instructions on the POLICIES page. I will have a welcome packet for you to fill out after we get you checked in. Once we review your paperwork, we will begin with a consultation regarding your brow goals. I ask that you arrive with your brow makeup done in the way you typically apply it, as it's a helpful guide for me to see what you like! Photos of "brow goals" are also a helpful tool in the consultation process (hint: you can find photos on my portfolio by tapping on the Instagram icon at the bottom of this page). After the consultation, we will take our "before" photos, followed by the templating process where we map your brows and work together to find your desired shape. Once this is complete, I will apply a topical numbing cream and begin the procedure shortly after.
How long does the procedure take?
Plan to be with me from start to finish for an average of 2 hours for a touchup, and potentially 3+ hours for your initial session.
